This Makes Me Angry.

Gaping buttons. IYKYK. Sooo frustrating, especially when I REALLY wanted to make a dress with buttons work and this. kept. happening.

How did I make the chest area NOT bust open?

First… you should know that this project began almost 4 years ago. Yeah. It was an issue. This dress went from zipper with a waistband and larger pleats, and eventually evolved to a dress with buttons, no waistband, and skinny pleats that cross over. We tweaked so many details to perfect the fit… HOWEVER.

The gaping buttons wouldn’t go away.

We added more buttons which helped the gaping issue, but the look was meh. So after a lot of trial and error, we finally found a solution… and it’s actually magic. We added secret hooks UNDER the buttons, where the fabric had the most tension. And….

No more gaping buttons BUH BYE 👋
